The Contortionist – ‘Starlings’ – Director Steve Glashier

When we closed the doors to Museum, the collective and record label I’d co-founded, I went straight into making this video for fellow curator The Contortionist; this is literally the first thing I’d ever filmed. I’d persuaded Art Boy (who plays Nosferatu) into it first, then Porter, on the strength of him being a bit boggly and had a kind of Marty Feldman look about him. We shot it in a couple of hours but it took 3 months to edit because we had to chip away at it whenever there was an hour free. I’m happy with it as far as first attempts go: it’d be fucking horrible to have something you couldn’t live with as your ‘debut’ video.
