The Making of ‘A Guide To Recognising Your Saints’

Starting life as EPK, the quality of the footage and editing ensured this short film (of which only a segment is featured) became the official “Making Of” for Dito Montiel’s motion picture and was included in the DVD package. As well as being broadcast in its entirety in the US, elements of Shooting Saints were used in Film with Jonathan Ross, demonstrating the broadcast quality of the footage and the duality of EPK’s.

Xpress 2 – Make Shift Feel Good – Director Steve Glashier

Using a striking editing style to mix between specifically shot live footage, an interview piece and promo videos, this EPK produced for Xpress 2 focuses on the collaborative nature of their second album. Channel 4 broadcast this EPK in its entirety in conjunction with the album’s release.

With Digital Culture reshaping the Music Industry, Electronic Press Kits have fast become an essential medium for bands, artists and labels alike. A well-made EPK acts as the first point of reference for the industry, allowing the band or artists the freedom to explain themselves on their own terms, with complete stylistic control. Acting equally as a promotional tool and a documentary, the EPK offers an in-depth study of the band or artist. It also provides a resource for tailor-made online content, an integral element in all press campaigns. In collating all available media, EPK’s are also a platform for the band or artists visual work: videos, artwork and live performance can be included to give a complete impression of their output. Combine this with a structured interview piece that covers everything from original inspirations to future intentions and you have a comprehensive package that serves as an introduction to journalists and an invaluable insight for fans.
